Verification Policy

Every profile in this directory carries a status label so you know how much confidence to place in it. We use two, and only these two:

Listed

The profile is based on specific, sourced, publicly available information — for example a law firm's own team page, a bar register entry, or a named credit in an established legal publication (a directory such as Chambers or The Legal 500, a bar association, or comparable). Sources are linked on the profile itself. "Listed" is a statement about where the information came from, not a claim that we have personally vetted the individual's credentials, disciplinary record, or standing with any bar.

Unverified

We could not confidently match the name to a single, specific, identifiable lawyer or firm from public sources — for example because the name is shared by multiple practitioners, or no public profile could be located. Rather than guess, we say so. An "Unverified" profile contains only what little is confirmed and is clearly marked as such.

What we will never do

We will not label a profile "Verified" without a real, documented verification process behind it — we don't currently have one, so we don't use that word. We will not display star ratings, review scores, or client testimonials that we cannot attribute to a real, checkable source. We will not describe any lawyer or firm as "the best," "top," or "#1" anywhere on this site as a matter of editorial claim rather than a sourced, attributed fact (for example, a specific, cited award is reported as exactly that — an award, from a named publisher, on a named date).

How to correct or improve a listing

If you are the subject of a profile, the fastest way to correct or expand it is to claim it. Anyone can flag an issue using Suggest a Correction, whether or not they are the subject of the profile.
